(1) Summer Internship 2023 - Actuarial, Life & Health SEA Structured Solutions (10 week structured internship from May to Aug 2023)

Location: Singapore

Your job:

The SEA Structured Solutions Team is looking for two interns who are interested in technical work and enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment covering initiatives across multiple markets and being part of a diverse team.

You will be required to work closely and proactively with the actuaries within the SEA Structured Solutions Team as well as those from the Asia Pacific Structured Solutions Team.

The main scope of the internship will include:

• Supporting team members in the quarterly and annual Structured Solutions reporting process (i.e. Solvency II Reporting, local Statutory Reporting, Monitoring, etc)
• Proposing and performing enhancements in the monitoring work cycle for financial reinsurance deals using tools such as MS Excel VBA and/or Power BI
• Assisting with automation of the Statement of Accounts (SOA) and bordereaux checking process
• Performing data cleaning, checking and preparation to enable such data usage in cashflow projections to provide management information
• Supporting any ad-hoc projects and tasks.

Your profile:

Currently undertaking a university degree in any of the following disciplines - Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics Statistics, and/or Mathematics. Progressing towards the attainment of actuarial fellowship with one of the international actuarial organizations (would require some exemptions obtained during university or having passed at least 1 actuarial exam).

Qualities we are looking for in the intern:

• Self-starter with inner drive and the ability to work independently

• Excellent technical and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• “Team is first” mentality
• Detail-oriented, especially during analysis and report-writing
• Strong MS Excel (including VBA) skills
• Prior internship experience is a plus
• Prior exposure to AXIS, Power BI or Bloomberg is a plus

(2) Summer Internship 2023 - Actuarial, Life & Health Commercial SEA (10 week structured internship from May to Aug 2023)

Location: Singapore

Your job:

We are looking for 3 interns to be part of Munich Re’s Life and Health Southeast Asia Unit in Singapore and will be providing valuable support to the commercial team.

• Support team members in the inforce portfolio management tasks
• Perform data cleaning and reconciliation to ensure minimum standards are met
• Transform raw data into standardised format that can be used for pricing and experience analysis purpose
• Develop algorithms for use in data cleaning
• Prepare necessary documentations on the works performed
• Automation of data driven processes
• Support all projects and tasks as assigned

Your profile:

• Undergraduate student in Actuarial Science, or Mathematics
• Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to details
• Knowledge in Excel, VBA, ACCESS/SQL will be an advantage

(3) Actuarial Data Assistant (Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Singapore

This role requires the use of the organisation's system architecture to transform portfolio data made available to the organisation by its clients into a standardised and enriched format for down-stream consumption.

Your job:

• Working closely with the actuarial and accounting teams in the regional and local office, map client-format portfolio data onto the organisation's system, ensuring a consistency of format, while maintaining data integrity
• This will entail using insurance knowledge and problem-solving skills to:
• analyse and understand treaty terms, product features and data formats
• gather and structure the required treaty and product parameters
• perform reconciliations of client-provided portfolio data to confirm quality and interpretation
• manage transformations and validation rules as coded on the system
• liaise with local offices to clarify terms and resolve any issues that have been identified
• test and document the work done.

Your profile:

• A degree with majors in Actuarial Science (recent graduates are welcome to apply)
• Technical computing skills, with database knowledge
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication (written and spoken) in English
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL
• A thorough understanding of Life Insurance principles and products will be advantageous
